With more than 100,000 attendees and 2,300 exhibitors, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the world’s largest trade show focused on mobile technologies. At MWC 2018, Smith Micro showcased three of its wireless solutions: SafePath® Family, QuickLink® IoT and CommSuite®, met with dozens of current and potential customers/partners, and attended several of the keynotes, which focused on topics like “Creating a Better Service Provider,” “The Foundations of the Digital Economy,” and “The Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
After each day of sessions, Smith Micro’s CTO, Dave Sperling, took a few minutes to discuss some key takeaways:
- On MWC Day 1, Dave spoke about how Big Data is being used for social good, and how mobile operators can connect with and build trust with mobile consumers in our connected future.
- On MWC Day 2, Dave called out some of the key buzzwords at MWC 2018 including 5G and IoT. In this short video interview shot outside of a bustling Hall 8.1, he discusses how 5G is becoming a reality on how it will enable novel IoT use cases not possible in today’s 4G world.
- On MWC Day 3, Dave talked about how voice is the new user interface, and how AI and machine learning can be used to increase the value of voice-based services for mobile operators.
